auto-translated: First of all, unfortunately I didn't pay attention to the existing rating. It was the same and even worse.
We had booked two nights online. When we arrived, we first checked in at reception (i.e. in the restaurant). There was already music playing and the receptionist was sitting in the corner. She was quite confused, but seemed quite exhausted...
Well, it worked and we got the ticket for the barrier & sanitary facilities. When we got to our reserved spot, it was already occupied. We decided to take another free one, which was still available on the online booking site. The whole site was pretty much under water, which of course wasn't the campsite's fault, but nothing seemed to be done about it.
When we had set up our awning, we went to the campsite restaurant because of the time (approx. 21:30) and wanted to eat something... There we reported our choice of pitch, which was accepted without further ado (i.e. not to accept the pitch as occupied).
Ordering at the bar worked quite well, we ordered two pizzas (said to be the best on Öland) and a hamburger. As there was a live band playing inside, we looked for a seat outside. After almost an hour, we had slowly finished our drinks, but the food still hadn't arrived. When we asked, the waitress took our order again and apologised that it had been forgotten. Another half hour later, the restaurant was emptying and it seemed the band & bartender were having the bigger party than the few diners ;), we still had no food. Another apology followed, the chef was new and we were served garlic bread & 2 glasses of wine on the house at 23:00, the food would follow soon. By now we were no longer hungry anyway and made our way back to the square at 11.30pm without food.
The live band with music from the 50s to the 80s was still playing after various beer breaks without thinking about stopping, the barman was dancing around wildly and couldn't even hit the glasses. Even on our pitch (almost by the sea) you could still hear the music from the restaurant echoing across the campsite. (Night's sleep = no chance)
Now to the general condition: The sanitary facilities were reasonably adequate for the low occupancy, but would have been far too few if fully occupied. 2 "proper" showers and two without cubicles per gender are simply not enough. In addition, everything was underwater and quickly became dirty (due to the proximity to the beach). Another toilet block would really be necessary & two cleanings per day are not very much for a campsite of this size.
The proximity to the sea is really beautiful and the only thing that really deserves the name "Riviera". Unfortunately, a lot of seaweed is washed up, so the odour keeps wafting over the site. It would certainly be helpful to "remove" it like other campsites in the neighbourhood.
Fortunately, we didn't spend the day on the campsite and enjoyed the beautiful north of this island, which is really worth a stop on any trip to southern Sweden.
Now for the check-out. We reported back to the receptionist and asked for a refund for the previous evening's meal. This wasn't a problem at first and was added to the camping card (shower, etc.). However, as we were leaving, we naturally wanted the money back on our credit card. However, this did not work with their EC devices. (I still can't explain this). As the tills no longer hold cash, this was not an option either. In the end, the receptionist gave us 120 (about 1 pizza) of her private money to get us to leave.
In retrospect, however, I don't think this was fair to her (hopefully she will ever get the money back) or to us. I'm sure (or hope) not everyone will have the problem with the food, but the fact that you can't get the rest of the money from the shower card (which you have to top up with 50 crowns when you book) refunded is simply cheeky and seems to me to be a system to make the prices seem low.
To summarise, hands off this campsite! There are countless places on Öland that are also recommended in travel guides. It's definitely worth paying every extra crown. We were so naive and thought this campsite was cheaper because it had fewer facilities (pool, etc.), which we never needed and therefore didn't want to pay for. Unfortunately, we didn't realise beforehand that the facilities here are poorly maintained and only exist because of the location.
If you really want to stay cheaply, it's better to use one of the many motorhome pitches on Öland and drive a few kilometres to visit the beach. Hopefully this review will help you and you can enjoy not only the beautiful island, but also the campsite!

auto-translated: Worn and generally unkempt. Good for one night if you don't have service requirements. No shop, no activities and shitty restaurant. Avoid this, max two stars, not four as they claim
